Ukrainian Parliament adopted the Law 'On Fundamental Principles of Development of Information Society in Ukraine in 2006-2016' (revised)

114 proposals were received and taken into consideration during preparation of the draft law (registration #0815) for the second reading.

The main objective of development of information society in Ukraine is, when widely using state-of-the-art ICT, to facilitate every person’s ability to create information and knowledge, use and exchange the same, produce goods and provide services using his/her potential to the full extent to enhance the quality of life and ensure sustainable development of our state based on the objectives and principles of the UN Regulations, Declaration of Principles and Action Plan developed at the World Summits High Level Meetings on information society (Geneva, December 2003; Tunis, November 2005) and Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, dated December 1, 2005 'On Recommendations of Parliamentary Hearings on Development of Information Society in Ukraine'.

Information Program of the International Renaissance Foundation (Ukraine) supported participation of Ukrainian delegation in Geneva Summit on Information Society, co-organized and held the parliamentary hearings on development of information society in Ukraine.
